Valerie Cooper
Picture That, LLC
Valerie A. Cooper, founder of Picture That LLC, established the fine art consulting firm in 2002. The Stamford-based company supplies fine art, curates exhibitions, and provides art advisory & appraisal services. Picture That LLC also promotes art by women and minority artists. Valerie Cooper speaks with passion about her work, “There is a tremendous need for education and enlightenment regarding cultural inclusion and diversity in our country today. I feel extremely privileged to be able to contribute to this mission using fine art as a vehicle.”
Prior to establishing her company, Valerie spent 15 years leading risk management technology teams on Wall Street with Goldman Sachs. Her final appointment at Goldman Sachs was Vice President of Global Diversity for the Technology Division.
Valerie is on the board of Norwalk Community College Foundation and she holds the office of Secretary. Her volunteerism includes directing Curatorial Services for the Stamford Center for the Arts, Palace Sackler Gallery and serving as a member of the Stamford Old Town Hall Museum Art Committee. Valerie was recently named 2010 “Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year” by the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE); and is a 2010 recipient of the Boy Scouts of America “Good Scout” Award.
Her education includes a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University Business School, an Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts Certificate from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science from Morgan State University. Valerie was recently made an Associate of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA). She is lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a lifetime member of the National Black MBA Association.
